AWP Conference Community Scholarship Program

The AWP Conference Community Scholarship aims to increase access to the annual AWP Conference & Bookfair for writers from marginalized communities, including for those who identify as people of color, disabled, LGBTQIA+, and/or low-income. Seventy-five percent of the scholarship donations are reserved for those living in the local host city or region. 

After attending #AWP23, one scholarship recipient said “[I was] surrounded by so many like-minded and creative folks who were finely attuned to diversity and inclusion in ways that were tangible and meaningful. I felt like I was home in a sea of new faces and that may be the first time I've ever really felt that. It was absolutely life-changing."
